  • Self-portrait with two pupils (Mademoiselle Marie Gabrielle Capet and Mademoiselle Carreaux de Rosemond)

Self-portrait with two pupils (Mademoiselle Marie Gabrielle Capet and Mademoiselle Carreaux de Rosemond)
This painting measures 210.8 x 151.1 cm and was done with oil paint on canvas. Adélaïde Labille-Guiard put herself as the focal point of the painting. Her dress is a light blue that contrasts the dark colors of everything around her. She also painted herself looking directly at the audience, staring at them almost defiantly. She put herself in fine clothing and a fancy hat. This painting was done to prove a point that women should have a place in the world of art.
  • Self-portrait with harp

    Self-portrait with harp
This painting is done with oil on canvas and measures 193 x 128.9 cm. The light colors of her dress and skin tone makes her the focal point. Having darker colors on the back ground gives the lighter shades more room to shine. Showing herself playing an instrument shows the viewer that not only can she paint, but she has other talents as well. What is interesting about Rose Ducreux is that it has come to light that a lot of paintings thought to be done by other artists are actually her work.
