Beatus of Gerona
Ende is the pseudonym for a female artist in the tenth century. Although she was a women, and possibly a noblewoman, she was able to get an education and practice her art in a Spanish Monastery. No one knows her real name though she is responsible for a lot of religious work. She was not a nun, but did have faith which is depicted within her work. She was thought to be well respected in the monastery to be able to get educated and create art. -

Art by Sister Caterina Virgi sometime between 1430 and 1446 (her death). Depicted is a saint in blue, yellow, red, and green. It is considered a religious relic. Sister Caterina Virgi is a middle age's female artist known by name which is uncommon for females of that time. This piece shows that women were able to find a way to leave a mark even if it wasn't what was normally done during that time.
