    Beatus of Gerona
    Ende is the pseudonym for a female artist in the tenth century. Although she was a women, and possibly a noblewoman, she was able to get an education and practice her art in a Spanish Monastery. No one knows her real name though she is responsible for a lot of religious work. She was not a nun, but did have faith which is depicted within her work. She was thought to be well respected in the monastery to be able to get educated and create art.

    Art by Sister Caterina Virgi sometime between 1430 and 1446 (her death). Depicted is a saint in blue, yellow, red, and green. It is considered a religious relic. Sister Caterina Virgi is a middle age's female artist known by name which is uncommon for females of that time. This piece shows that women were able to find a way to leave a mark even if it wasn't what was normally done during that time.
