Various Gold Rushes happened around Australia. The most significant of these, were the Victorian Gold Rush in 1851 and Western Australian gold rush in the 1890's. People from China, Europe and Great Britain came to Australia to find the golden treasure. The Europeans and the Chinese travelled to Australia by boat. When the Chinese arrived in Australia, they changed Australia with their clothes, animals, crops, festivals, culture and traditions. -
Post World War I
Germany declared war on France and Russia, invaded Belgium. Germany had to implement the Schlieffen Plan. Many people migrated to Australia in World War 1 due to the bombing blitz from Germany. Many people from Europe migrated to Australia because of the War with the many nations. They voyaged to Australia by boat. This wave of migration had people from Europe bringing their food and traditions with them to Australia. -
Post World War II
After WWII, people all across Europe travelled to Australia. Seeing there were so many displaced Europeans travelling to Australia, Australia launched a massive immigration programme. Over 1,000,000 British citizens migrated to Australia under the Assisted Migration Scheme, also known as 'Ten Pound Poms.' People from all over Europe travelled to Australia by boat for the cost of ten pounds. This wave of migration raised the population of Australia, bringing people with different traditions. -
Indochinese Migration
10 years after the Vietnam War, there were already 90,000 people that fled to Australia because of the war. Many Vietnamese, Chinese and Indonesians migrated to Australia by boat, basically all refugees came from the asian region. This wave of migration lead to Australia opening different restaurants with asian cuisine and different traditions, religions and fashion. -
Modern Migration
Nowadays, you see people around the world migrating to Australia by plane. Many reasons for migrating would be better education, lifestyle or even start a new life in a better country. This wave of migration has changed the population to Australia dramatically and now there are many multicultural societies around Australia.
