Society was tied to the crops. Seasons depicted time. -

Agricultrual Age
Acording to Toffler, this age began around 8000 B.C. and continued until the year of 1750. Time only mattered when it corresponded to the seasons.
Family included extended family members. Larger families were needed to help with the harvest.
Transportation and Communication was limited. Lack of mobility kept family members together.
Children were mostly educated at home or in a one room school house. -

Industrial Age
The Industrial Age is the second wave according to Toffler. Families begin to separate and move to cities to find work.
Society began to watch the clock.
Transportation and communication expanded. Automobiles, trains, and planes made it possible to travel long distances easier.
Education took over the role of childcare when parents began to work outside of the home. Children were separated by age. More visual resources were available. -
Industrial Age
The invention of the engine opened society to whole new way of life. The engine changed the way people traveled and worked. -

The foruth wave if not already begun, will begin soon. Society has changed the face of communication and travel. We have more information at our fingertips then ever before. The next wave will have to expand our creativity. -
Innovation
I believe the fourth wave will find society discovering how new technology can better our lives. This may include biotechnologies to hardware in our homes. Education will need to change in order to meet the demands of this new wave.
