    George Washington traveled for 8 days from Virginia to the captitol when he got there he was anxious beacause he knew the nation depended on him.Also his actions would set an example for further generations
  • The Cabinet

    The federal goverment had only had 75 post offices,afew clerks, and a tiny army of 672. Then Congress passed a law to have three departments in the executive branch. The Treasury, The State, and War. Washington chose Alexzander Hamilton for secretary, Thomas Jefferson for State and Henery Knox for Secretary of War. They would advise the president they eventually became the cabinet.
  • Supreme Court

    There were 3 circuit courts and 13 district courts the president chose John Jay of New York as the First chief justice
  • The New Tax

    Congress Imposed a tax on all whiskey made and sold in the U.S
  • Whiskey Rebelion

    Tax collecters tried to collect the tax farmers rebeled burning down houses of tax collecters. They gathered a large group in Pennslyvania. Washington sent a millitia of 13,000 troops to Pennslyvania the rebels quickly disperse. Washington pardoned the leaders of the rebellion. The rebellion tested the might of the federal government and Washington's forceful action showed americans that armed rebellion was not accebtable.
