Formation of Z.O.B
In the summer of 1942, about 300,000 Jews were deported from Warsaw to Treblinka. When the news that the germans were killing the Warsaw jews came back, the remaining ghetto survivors created an organisation called Z.O.B. (which means Jewish Fighting Organisation) in polish. -
The resistance
The german forces encountered resistance from the Z.O.B. People took to the streets to rebel against the German forces. In an act of retaliation against the resistance the german soldiers massacre 1,000 Jews in the main square. The Germans killed approxtimatley 5,000-6,500 Jews. Pleased by the stir the resistance actions caused, the Jews in the ghetto planned a full scale revolt. -
Z.O.B take action
Seven hundred and fifty of the Warsaw ghetto fighters engaged in conflict with German troops as they tried to round up another group of ghetto inhabitants. They used smuggled and handmade weapons. -
The end of the resistence
The fight against the germans ended due to the crippling strength of the german army. More than 56,000 Jews were captured, about 7,000 were shot, and the remainder were sent to camps.
