  • Jay's Treaty

    Jay's Treaty
Prevented imminent war with Britain but did not address or resolve the British soldiers' refusal to leave their west posts, American ship seizure, and the British-encouraged conflict the Natives had with the Americans. During this time, the United States attempted to remain neutral, hence the Proclamation of Neutrality, Jay's Treaty, and the Embargo Act. The British and French, however, continually seized American ships. The British were also impressing American sailors. This was one of the leading causes of the War of 1812 as the U.S grew tired of not being treated as a nation.

Also Jefferson was a Republican, who generally wanted good relations with France.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Treaty of Ghent
Peace treaty that ended the War of 1812, signed by both sides in the Netherlands. It did not offer solutions to the impressment of American seaman nor their neutral rights, it expanded the U.S to the Great Lakes. News of this took 2 months to reach America, which is why the Battle of New Orleans occured. They both signed bc England was U.S best trading and they are dealing w/Neopolean. Neither side could afford it.

Andrew Jackson led American troops into battle, resulting in an American victory. Did not affect the outcome of the war but did build a support platform for Jackson to be elected in 1828.
