The British took advantage of Hull's confusion and surrounded Hull's army. The army was forced to surrender. 2,000 of Hull's men were captured, which was a major loss to the us. -

This battle lasted for 3 long hours at Put-in-Bay. The Americans won. Perry switched from his badly damaged flag ship to another ship to keep the attacks going. His decision won the battle. -
Battle of Horeshoe Bend
Andrew Jackson controlled the American forces in Georgia. The treaty created after the Americans won, made the Creeks give up millions of acres of land. -
Washington D.C. Burned
The British attacked the nations captial. Dolly Madison gathered all the importian papers and fled on a white horse. -

The USS Constitution sides were said to be "unpeneterable." It defeted the Guerriere. The USS Constitution was nicknamed Old Ironsides The walls were 2 feet thick. -

Francis Scott Key watched the battle over Fort Henery. He watched the British bombarded the fort at night and he wrote the poem on the back of an envelope. -
Hartford Convention
Some Federalist met in Hartford, Connecticut and suggested that the New England states withdraw from the United States. While that was happening, the peace treaty was being signed. The Hartford Convention quickly came to an end. -
