  • The fall of the Philippines

    the Japanese attacked American airfields in the Philippines. The american and filipino forces in the philippines were outnumbered. in desperation, the troops ate cavalry horses and mules. The lack of food and supplies but then they ran out and could no longer defend.
  • The bataan death march

    The bataan death march was when japanese prisoners of war were forced to the march 65 miles to a prison camp. Most of them were starving, sick and tired. 10,000 troops died on the march.
  • The Doolittle Raid

    The U.S went to bomb the japanese and roosevelt put colone doolittle in charge of the mission.he did this because he was looking for a new way to raise the moral of the american people.
  • The battle of midway

    The U.S stopped the japanese from advancing. the battle killed 362 americans and 3,057 japanese troops.
  • Island hopping

    The U.S stated island hopping which is when they only focus on lightly defended and useful islands. they would bypass heavily defended ones too. they did this because they were getting closer to japan.
