Quebec had grown to be the largest town in New France, with a population of about 8000. It was the centre of French power in North America. -

In time, Washington would have been the first presenteind in the US, however, he sufferd defeat. The following year, they tried again with a much bigger force, but the result was the same. -
Deportation of Acadian
Governor Lawerence found 300 armed Acadians defending the fort. To him, this meant that all Acadian were disloyal. Lawerence gave order:"The french inhabitant of the province shall be removed out of the country as soon as possible". -

The Seven Year War was so big that it was going to become a world war.They had colonies in Europe, France, England, India, Caribbean and Africa. This war lasted for seven years. -
British capturing Louisbourg
In spring of 1758, the british collected a huge force of warships and troops at halifax. Arriving off Louisbourg that june. British soilders scrambled on shore with their cannons, they cutted off the town from the landwards side and settled in for a long siege. Inside the fortress, the people were cut off from supplies and reinforcements. The british launched a steady rain of cannonballs onto the fort. After seven weeks of bombarment, the French at Louisbourg surrendered -
Plains of Abraham
just before midnight on 12 September 1759, first british soilders stepped ashore. In a few hours, the British army was ready.at the fort, Montcalm had 6000 soilders, including 300 upper great lakes odawa allies. Montcalm emerged from the city leading 4000 troops. after 15 minutes french had fled. -

Royal Proclamation of 1763 was signed by George III of England, he wanted to prevent the loss of Canadians language and culture. -
Treaty of paris
England and France fought for 3 years, finally in 1763 they signed the treaty of Paris ending the conflict.Under the treaty france gave up any claim of Quebec or any other part of North America, in return France received Guadeloupe, a sugar producing island. -
Pontiac war
May 1763, Pontiac and the Odawa laid siege to the British fort at at Deroit. Pontiac’s allies captured fort along the trading frontier south and west of Lake erie. they were suecessful capturing seven english of ten english forts. Pontiac hoped that the French would come to help him. He and his allies had aided the French in their war with the engish. French however, aleady surrendered at Montreal. British sent in troops to fight the First Nation.The alliance that Pontiac had formed fell apart -
Quebec Act
The British did not want trouble in Quebec, they decided that the best way to reconize that the Canadiens' rights had been taken away by the Proclamation.Therefore in 1774, Britain passed a law with new plan for the colony.
