The creation
Summer of 1928, Diemer came up with a combination that the Fleer Corporation had been seeking for. Large, pliant, stable, and easy to peel off the face when they popped. -

On this day, The Fleer Company gave 100 pieces to a store in Philidelphia.
Everyone loved the idea of bubble gum and wanted more and more -

In 1970, he retired, and became a member of the company's board of directors, a position he retained until 1985 -
Up Up and Away
By the 1990s, the gum, which originally sold for a penny a piece, was ringing up sales exceeding $1.2 billion a year. In 1991, it was calculated that children were chewing 150,000 pounds a day of the primarily pink gum. -
