Stereoscopic photos are two different photos viewed through a Stereoscope. These two photos are different and they are also split between both of the eyes giving the photos the feeling of depth. -
View Mastery
The view master is basically a different from of stereoscope. but instead of putting photos in through the side all you need to do is pop a reel in and crank the crank on the side of the stereoscope to change what your looking at. -

The Sensorama was the first VR simulation machine of sorts, what it would do is that it would play a film in 3d and would not only simulate sounds and visual images, it would also simulate smell with smell generators it would also have a vibrating chair and fans
