  • A year of creativity and and crisis in Arles

    "In 1888, Vincent moved to Arles in southern France, where he painted some of his most famous works, including 'Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles', 'The Night Café', and 'Sunflowers'. He invited Paul Gauguin to join him, but their relationship became tense, and Vincent suffered a mental health crisis, cutting off his left ear in December."
  • Recovery and art in the hospital

    "In 1889, after cutting off his ear, Vincent admitted himself to a hospital in Arles and later transferred to a psychiatric hospital in Saint-Rémy, where, under the care of Dr. Peyron, he painted works like 'The Starry Night' and 'Hospital Garden'.   • A final year: Art and tragedy in auvers-sur-oise

    Vincent leaves the psychiatric hospital in Saint-Rémy and moves to Auvers-sur-Oise, a village north of Paris, France. There, under the care of Dr. Paul Gachet, he paints works like 'Wheatfield with Crows'. However, his mental health remains fragile, and he ultimately commits suicide on July 29, 1890, at the age of 37.

    60 years after his death, he became one of the most famous and admired artists in the world. Today, he is considered one of the greatest painters in the history of art, although he was not famous during his lifetime. He fulfilled the phrase he once said: 'Maybe my art is made for future generations'.
