After the overthrow of Batista, Fidel Castro came into power as Cubas Prime Minister. This grants him power over the military as well as politics. -
U2 Incident
An American U2 spy plane was shot down by Soviet Air Defense Forces and captured its pilot. They later encarcerated teh pilot, giving him 10 years with charges of espionage. Castro decides to side with USSR and makes himself an his allies important Cold War Allies for the Soviets. This grants Cuba with benefits of military, economic, and political support. -
Bay of Pigs Botched Invasion
The Bay of Pigs invasion was an invasion targetted towards the southwestern coast of Cuba organized by exiles who opposed Castros rulling. An air strike by B-26 bombers organized by Castros opposers failed to destroy all of Castros Air Force. Once they tied fleeing away, their ships were caught in coral reefs, which caused them to have to surrender. -
Nuclear Missile Sites in Cuba/ "10 Days"
An American U-2 spy plane secretly photographed nuclear missile sites beginning to be built by the Soviet Union Island in Cuba. The United States president Kennedy did not want to make it known to Cuba that they discovered the site of missiles. In this meeting, Kennedys advisors told him he had "10 days" before Cuba was able to fire the missiles at America. -

President Kennedy made a televised announcement to America about the findins of missile sites in Cuba. The Soviet union sent 25 Soviet ships to Cuba. -

The United States ambassador to the United Nations during the Cuban Missile Crisis was Adlai Stevenson. Kennedy doubted his potentual in this position but Stevenson proved otherwise and helps with the missile crisis. -
Gromyko and Kennedy Meet
On the third day of the Cuban missile crisis, US President Kennedy met with Soviet foreign minister Andrei Gromyko at the white house. Through this entire meeting Gromyko lied claiming he had no intentions to cause violence against the US that Cuba had. Gromyko repeated that all Soviet military assistance to Havana had been only for "the defensive capabalaties of Cuba." Kennedy was aware this was a lie because of the proof of missiles in the Soviet Island in Cuba targeted against America -
Black Saturday
This saturday marked the heigh of the Cuban Missile Crisis. On this day Soviet SAM missile battery shot down an American U-2 spyplane on an island that was declared as American land. America wanted to get back at them by attacking at least one SAM territory. -
Khrushchev Agrees
Kennedy and Khrushche negotiated to promise Khrushchev would not plan no further invasions of Cuba as well as to remove the missiles located in Cuba if the US removed the missiles in Turkey an Italy. The main factor of this agreement was to prevent a nuclear war -
Effects of the Cuban Missile Crisis
After the 10 days of the Cuban missile crisis was over and Kennedy was able to come to an agreement with Khrushchev it took a big turn.
