The monk was Buddhist and he did this to protest the persecution of his religion from the government -
President Kennedy is assassinated, leading to the Lyndon B. Johnson presidency
If President Kennedy was not assassinated the U.S. would not have entered the Vietnam War as quick as we did -
President Johnson claims a U.S. ship had been fired upon by the North Vietnamese
The USS Maddox was the name of the ship, and Johnson's response was to send men to Vietnam and deal with the problem -
