Eisenhower responds to the defeat of the French
Presiden Eisenhower outlined the domino theory " You have a row of dominos set up. You knock over the first one , and what will happen to the last one is the certinity , that it will go over qucikly. He is saying that once one country falls to communism , than others will soon follow. He used this theory in response to the defeat of the French by vietnam. -

An United States platoon , under the command of Lietenant William calley jr. massacred innocent civillians in the small village of My Lai. William Calley was convicted and prisoned for telling the soldiars to do what they did. Americans everywhere where upset and shocked. -

Due to Lyndon Johnoson not running for president , Richard Nixon became president of the United States. Johnson did not run againg due to the Tet Offensive. -
United states invades Cambodia
Just when Americans thought the war was nearing the end , nixon announces that United States troops invaded Camodia to clear our all of the North Vietense and Vietcong supply centers. When nixon announced this, Americans everywhere began to protest. -
Disaster strikes at Kent State University
National guardsman opened up fire on innocent students , to protest the vietnam war. It is said that four students were killed and left about nine people injured. -

Daniel Ellsberg makes a shocking announcment. He leaked the news about a 7,000 page document that showed that the goverment had no intentions on ending the war. Because of this , Americans bgan to believed that the goverment was not being honest. -
United states signs a treaty
The United States signed an agreement to end the war , so that Vietnam can be in peace again. The untited states signed this , but nixon stated that he would onliy come back in "full force" if a violation is made. -

North Vietnam launched a ful scale invasion against the south. Thieu immedietly appealed to the united states for help . To keep the promise of the peace agreemnet , the United States sent economic aid.
