The Geneva Confrence was among several nations that took place in Geneva, Switzerland, in order to try and settle the Korean War and restoring the peace of Indochina. -
Dien Bien Phu
The whole reason the fall of Dien Bien Phu happen was because of the Geneva Confrence and the future of Indochina. Viet Minh forces overran Dien Bien Phu, and according to the fall, it was the end of French military forces in Asia. -

The U.S.S. Maddox is attacked by North Vietnam, Led to passage of the "Golf Of Tonkin Resolution", which says we should ask congress for all necessary measures to prevent further aggression. -
Us Troops Involvement
Johnson announces the decision to send 100,000 ground troops to Vietnam. The US involvement moves from advisory to actual 10,000 to 100,000. From 1965-1968 the troops commitment will increase up to 565,000. -

The Lai Massacre was the Vietnam mass killing of between 300-500 unarmed civilians in South Vietnam. -
Assasinations of 2 important figures
In April and June Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, were assasinated. These events are significant because they were big US public figures at the time. -
New President
Richard Nixon was elected and started making some changes to the War. He removed 25,000 troops, and started vietnamization, which was the removal of soldiers to try and end the war. -
Kent State Massacre
The Kent State Massacre was the shooting of unarmed students protesting the Vietnam War in Kent, Ohio, by members of the Ohio National Guard. -
End of the War
At a news Confrence, Nixon announced that the War was coming to an end. The fighting continued up until April 1975 when Saigon fell to the communists.
