Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
A resolution that stated, "Congress approves and supports the determination of the President, as Commander in Chief, to take all necessary measures to repeal any armed attack against the forces of the United States and to prevent any further aggression." Which was made in response to the Gulf of Tonkin incident. -
LBJ ordered 1st troops to Vietnam
Two battalions of 3,500 marines landed on the shores of South Vietnam on the beach of Danang to defend friendly air bases. -

My Lai Massacre

Nixon’s Christmas bombing
Bombers dropped over 20,000 tons of bombs on the cities of Hanoi and Haiphong. The United States lost 15 of its giant B-52s and 11 other aircraft during the attacks. North Vietnam claimed that over 1,600 civilians were killed. -

The Paris Peace Accords was the official Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam. -

Saigon Falls
The South Vietnamese stronghold of Saigon falls to the People's Army of Vietnam and the Viet Cong and South Vietnam surrendered.
