The Geneva Accords were agreements that temporarily seperated Vietnam into two zones with seperate governments. The agreement also said that free elections would be held two years later, but these were canceled to to the United States' fear that Ho Chi Minh (a communits) would win. -

The Guld of Tonkin Resolution was was a joint resolution that the United States Congress passed in response to the Gulf of Tonkin incident. It gave President Johnson power to put troop into VIetnam without declaring war and without the premission of congress. -

The U.S. started a bombing campaign called Operation Rolling Thunder that attacked targets throughtout Noth Vietnam. -
My Lai Massacre
American soldier opened fire on the South Vietnamese hamlet of My Lai. They kill the majority of the area and many were women and children. -
Kent State Massacre
Students at Kent State University were protesting the invasion of Cambodia. After burning a building the national guard stepped in and 4 students died. -
Pentagon Papers printed in NY
The pentagon papers was a top-secret overview of the history of the governments involvement in Vietnam. They were published in "The New York Times" revealing the deception of the American people about what was really happening in the war.
