    The Geneva Accords were agreements that temporarily seperated Vietnam into two zones with seperate governments. The agreement also said that free elections would be held two years later, but these were canceled to to the United States' fear that Ho Chi Minh (a communits) would win.

    The U.S supported the coup of Diem, the president of South Vietnam. Diem was corrupt, didn't return land to peasants and restricted Buddist.

    Students at Kent State University were protesting the invasion of Cambodia. After burning a building the national guard stepped in and 4 students died.
