A peace protest at Kent State University took a violent turn causing the National Guard to be called in. The National Guard shot and killed 4 people, 2 of who were protesters and the other 2 were innocent bystanders. -

President Nixon ordered a temporary invasion on Cambodia, which was not included in the war. This action upset many of those who opposed the war.
