Operation Rolling Thunder

after the gulf of tonkin incident the US wanted to attack North Vietnam with a massive strike. US sent troops to air strike north Vietnam using over 50,000 troops

My Lai Massacre

During the Korean war there was confusion in the between who was the Vietcong and who was a normal civialian.A group of scared soldiers killed the who village of My Lai concisting of 300-500 people out of confusion and fear.

Vietnamization

Aftter LBJ presidant Nixon had to decide how he was going to deal with the vietnam war. Nixon decided that he wanted to start a policy called Vietnamization where he would gradually take our troops from Vietnam.

Kent State Massacre

May 4, 1970

During the korean war tensions between students and the Government were very high because they did not want to be put in vietnam. Kent state students were rioting causing the national guard to go to the school, in turn shooting students in the confustion.
