Coup of Ngo Dinh Diem
The President of South Vietnam was killed by members of the Northern Vietnamese Army and the Vietcong who disagreed with his handling of both the Buddhist crisis and the Viet Cong threat to the regime. The United States agreed with his coup behind closed doors. -

70,000 Northern Vietnamese and Vietcong soldiers attacked over 100 Southern cities and strong holds on the Buddist holiday of Tet. This attack shocked the American people and army and could be directly connected to the United State's removal from the Vietnam War. -

Woodstock was a musc concert festival at Max Yasgur's dairy farm in the town of Bethel, outside of White Lake, New York. Over 500,000 people showed up the concert, 450,000 more than projected. -

Students at Kent State University begin to riot about the ongoing war in Vietnam. The Ohio National Guard members called their to keep the riots under control become confused and fire into the crowd, killing 4 and injuring 22 others.
