Australia sends its first soldiers
During 1962, Australia sends a gropup of 30 military advisers to Vietnam. These people are known as Australian Army Training Team Vietnam. These men had prior experience from the Malayan Emergency and were sent to train American soldiers. -
Australia sends its first combat fighting soldiers
The Royal Australian Air Force transports 200 soldiers to the Port Town Vung Tau. Most of these soldiers are engineers and medical specilists that are based that U.S. strongholds. -
Australian Governments starts complusary consription
The Australian Government begins complusary conscriptions for males over the age of 20. These people have to serve in one of the three branches on the ADF. -

Prime Minister Robert Menzies announces that the Government is in talks with the U.S. government because it has been requested to provide more support. -

Battle of Long Tan
The Battle of Long Tan was a small battle that took place over the course of two days between Australian and Vietcong soldiers. It is known as one of Australia greatest battles but all battles come at a price. 18 soldiers were killed during the battle but in reponse, an estimated 245 Vietcong soldiers were killed. -
