  • Veit Cong was formed.

    Veit Cong was formed.
    The Veit Cong was created in 1954. It was an organiztion and army for South Veitnam and Cambodia that fought the United States in the Veitnam war. The people that were apart of the Veit Cong were very good at hiding it. The United States army could be just walking by some villagers thinking they were just inisint people gathering food and water for their families until the United States begins to get attacked by them. The Veit Cong was on the winning side of the Veitnam War.
  • Thich Quang Duc.

    Thich Quang Duc.
    Thich Quang Duc was a vietnamese buddhist monk who burned himself in the middle of an intersection in Saigon on June 11, 1963 because he was protesting against the Diem government policy for removing Buudhists for the top government and replacing them with the Catholic people.
  • Troops.

    Troops.
    In 1965 over 200,000 United States troops are sent to Vietnam to fight in the war. 200,000 was the final count on how many troops were in Veitnam at the end of the year. So many troops had to be sent there because of the Veit Cong, the Batlle of Dien Bien Phu being won be the Vietnamase and not the French, and a lot more reasons. But all of the troops did a great job on trying to help the villagers and fighting the war.
  • Operation Cedar Falls.

    Operation Cedar Falls was a Military Operation the the United States had set up to destory the "Iron Triangle" which was and area located near Saigon that was a big place for the Viet Cong. Operation Cedar Falls was the biggest American ground operation ever. It invovled over 30,000 United states Troops. A lot of Viet Cong ran to Cambodia to get away but the American troops still destroyed some of the Viet Cong tunnels and hidings.
  • Tet Offensive.

    The tet offensive was a military campaign of attacks on numerous cities by Vietcong and North Veitnamese Army. It stunned the American public. This forced more Americans to critize the war. The statistics of the the tet offensive were: Before Tet: 56% hawks; 28% doves. After Tet: 40% hawks; 40% doves.
  • Operation Menu.

    Operation Menu.
    Operation Menu was code name for a United States Strategic Command that started March 18, 1969 and didn't end until May 26, 1970. The targets to bomb of this command were sanctuaries and Base Areas in Vietnam. Also a target was forces of Viet Cong. The result of all of that was the failure to prevent North Vietnamese backed forces from operating in the country.
  • Fall of Saigon.

    Fall of Saigon.
    Saigon was the capital of South Vietnam. The fall of Saigon was when Saigon was captured by the People's Army of Vietnam and the National Liberation Front. That was the event that marked the end of the vietnam war. This also marked the period when North Vietnam and South Vietnam were reunited and then became a communist state.
