Kent State Massacre
The National Gaurds of Ohio opened fire on students protesting the Cambodia campaign. They shot a total of 67 bullets in 13 seconds. It killed 4 students, and injured 9, leaving on paralysized. -
Gulf of Tonkin Resolution Repealed
It was repealed because the people though it gave the president too much power. Also was widely unpopular due tot he vietnam war. -
Veterans denied access to Arlington National Cemetary
They were going to try to pay tribute to fallen soldiers. The government was given orders from Nixon not to allow them access. -
Vietnam Veterans throw back medals at the Capitol
The veterans began to protest the government because of the Arlington Cemetary actionst hat took place. The goverment tried sayignt hat they weren't real veterans. They were proved wrong when they all brought over 900 DD 214's (discharge papers). -

They are papers that were leaked on top-secret things going on during the Vietnam War. It had details abou the war the the government had used as lies to have a reason to go to war. -
Last of U.S. troops withdrawn
The peace agreement was signed on January 29, 1973. All of the U.S. troops were withdrawn within 2 months -
Congress stops funding for the war in Asia
They stopped all funding for the Vietnam war. It also made sure that a nother war couldnt be started immediatly. -
26th Ammendment Passed
Made it illegal for the voting age to be higher than 18. It was passed primarily due to the student protests going on about the Vietnam War. -
War Powers Act
Made it so the president couldn't wage war without congress' approval. Every President since 1973 has said that the act is unconstitutional. -
Nixon Resigns
Due to him being caught for the watergate scandal Nixon decides to resign. He was certain he was going to get impeached. -
South Vietnam Surrenders
The Noth Vietnamese invade Saigon with little resistance and took over the city. A couple hours before there was a large evactuation of high profile people.
