The creation of the Vietcong is probably one of the most important events that could of happened to start a war and they were our biggest enemies while fighting in Vietnam.

The US destroyer the Maddox was reportedly attacked by North Vietnamese although no damage had occured a few days later there was a second report of a massive attack by the North Vietnamese which turned out to not be completely true and in fact there might not have been an attack at all. Either way this event spiraled us into a full scale attack on the Vietnamese.
