South Vietnamese Coup Attempt
On Nov 11 1960 a coup to over throw the South Vietnamese president was attempted by two of his colonels. The president stalled them and the loyalists came and the rebels were executed. -
1963 South Vietnam Coup and Assassination
In 1963 another coup was attempted on the president of South Vietnam when a group of ARV decided to get rid of him. America knew about the coup but decided not to do anything. The coup went off without a hitch and president Diệm was arrested and assassinated. -
Tonkin Resolution
The Tonkin Resolution is a joint resolution congress passed in reaction to the Tonkin incident. It allowed president Johnson to use conventional military force in southeast asia. -
Phoenix Program
The Phoenix Program was a covert program in action from 1965 to 1972. The program was designed to attack and destroy the infrastructure of the Viet Cong. They did this through arrests, attacks, interogations, and assassinations. It was reported that the Phoenix Program operatives neutralized 81740 NFL operatives and of them between 21000 and 40000 were assassinated. -

Hamburger Hill Battle of Hamburger Hill was a battle fought for Hill 937. It was fought by the US, South Vietnam, and North Vietnam. The US was critisized for just throwing ground troops at the heavily fortified hill causing many casualties, but they eventualy took the Hill. -

Madman Theory was an image that Nixon wanted to project to the communists through out the Vietnam War. He wanted them to think that he was crazy, and ready to end the Vietnam War at any time with the use nuclear weapons, all though The communists never really bought it even though he flew bombers armed with nuclear weapons around the soviet border for three days. -

The Cambodian Campaign was a series of military operations conducted in Eastern Cambodia. The purpose of the campaign was to eliminate the 40000 PAVN and NLF Soldiers enscounsed in Eastern Cambodia. -
26th Amendmant
During the Vietnam War people didn't get how it was ok that an 18 year old kid could be drafted to fight for his country but can not vote. So they passed the 26th Amendment that lowered the legal voting age to 18. -
Easter Offensive
The Easter Offensive was the biggest and one of the last offensive attacks done by North Vietnam. It was not designed to win the war but to gain as much territory and take out as many enemy troops as they could. -
Kent State
At Kent State in 1972 the national guard opened fire on a group of college students that were protesting the Cambodian Campaign, and they killed 4 and wounded 9. -
US Withdraws From Vietnam
The US reached a peace agrement in Paris that ended hostilities and soon they began to withdraw their troops. -
