Japan using the pretense of racial superiority invaded china. There military would remain in the nation until 1945 and they would commit some of the worst crimes against humanity of the war. -

The Japanese carrier fleet attempted to ambush the U.S island of Midway. Unfortunately for them U.S code breakers knew the japanese plan and the Americans were waiting. The Japanese lost all 4 of their carriers .and there fleet was crippled. -

Took place in Egypt, Germans were stopped from taking over the Suez. Significant as it pushed Germany and was the first clear-cut victory for the British for the Axis power. Led to Germany being pushed to Tunisia. -

The western allies invasion of Italy to open up another front in the war and break into europe. Italy would overthrow and replace the facist government there almost imediatly after. -
D Day
Allied landings in Western France to liberate Europe and open a new front in the war. Led by Dwight E Eisenhower the operation was a tremendous success and aloud for the defeat of the german reich in less than a year after. -
Battle of the Bulge
Adolf Hitler launches a massive assault with all that left of the mechanized german army at american lines in the west. The waste of troops that were desperately needed to relieve the eastern front probably shortened the war by several months. -
Yalta Conference
The leaders of all the allied nations including Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt meet in Crimea to discuss the end of the war and the new global order following. -
Battle of Okinawa
The US advanced onto the mainland
and captured the two side forces before taking over the Island

Significance: This battle would allow the US to further advance against Japan in order to make combat against the mainland and stop the war in China as well as the overall war, this all being done by taking their biggest asset of Okinawa and thus weakening the Japanese efforts -

After years of health issues related largly to a polio diagnosis President Franklin Roosevelt dies in his fourth term shortly before the wars conclusion. -
Hitler's Deaths
Adolf Hitler commits suicide underneath the Reich Chanclery building in downtown Berlin to avoid Soviet capture. The war would end less than a week after his death in Europe. -
Fall of Berlin
The red army encircles the German capital and destroys what's left of the german army. This was the final major engagement of the war in Europe -
Bombing of Hiroshima
After refusing the American ultimatum for surrender nuclear bombs are deployed in the cities of hiroshima and nagasaki. Japan quickly changes their mind about surrendering.
