in mid December, the germans caught the American Forces in a surprise attack. The Allie forces held back the germans in a Belgian town called Bastogne. -

36 days of fighting on a 5 mile long island. More then 23,000 marines died to very determined enemy. The U.S. won this battle and got a very iconic picture. -
Okinawa
This island had a very vital airbase that could help the americans make bomb raids across the Japanese controlled islands.This battle was the most costly with around 50,000 casualties. -
The death of Hitler
Hitler was now physically weak from having drugs and bad dreams that turned him mad. Hitler and his close associates committed suicide. -

A french school house that served as Eisenhower's headquarters is where Germany officially surrenders -
Hiroshima
Once the U.S tested there new weapon, it was time to put it into action. At 8:15 on August 6, U.S pilots dropped the bomb over Hiroshima and killed more then 60,000 residents. -
Japan surrenders
With the threat of the Russian army and the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan, The Japanese faced a big decision. Eventually they surrendered on September 2 on board the USS Missouri.
