This was his theory:
1.All matter consists invisible particles called atoms.
2. Atoms are indestructible and the smallest piece of matter made to
man
3. Atoms are solid but invisible.
4. Atoms differ in size, shape, mass, and arrangement.
-Solids are made of small, pointy atoms.
-Liquids are made of large, round atoms.
-Oils are made of very fine, small atoms that can easily slip past each other, like liquids Democritus was born in 460 BC -
J.J Thomson
J.J. Thomson's discovery of the electron in 1897 showed us that the atom can be broken down into even smaller parts (electrons) His discovery was the first step towards a better model of the atom.
To do this he did a experiment, The Cathode Ray Experiment. The cathode ray tube by which J.J. Thomson shows that cathode rays could be deflected by a magnetic field
