    Battle of Lexington & Concord
    In Lexington, the British were surprised by the Americans and to this day no one knows who shot the first shot, British retreat and are faced again in Concord. Americans defeat British. This was the first revolutionary war battle and the first step towards independence.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    While British soldiers rest, colonists prepare for battle. Colonist build a wall and when British wake and see this they prepare for battle. Commander send British up the hill to attack colonists. Although British win, the colonists gain confidence for battles ahead.
  • Battle of Long Island

    George Washington's troops guard all of Brooklyn except one part by mistake. Americans are unknowingly surrounded by British troops.While the British wait for Americans to surrender, Americans evacuate secretly; continuing the revolution. Because the Americans' escape, the British take over New York, but the fight for the independence continues thanks to Washington's clever plan.

    Battle of Trenton & Princeton
    Battle of Trenton, Americans surround hessians on three parts and attack, captured 900 troops. Battle of Princeton, word got around the British were coming. Washington came up with a clever plan and tricked the British into thinking they were there even though they were on their way to Princeton. The Americans surprised the British, attacked, and won.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This was the first battle in which the French decide on helping out Americans and becoming allies. French begin to support the Americans financially, with supplies, and on the field. Americans win this battle.
  • Battle of Vincennes

    Battle of Vincennes
    The British surrender Fort Sackville making this the beginning of the end of British dominations in the western frontier. George Rogers Clark was leading.
  • Battle of Bohomme Richard vs. Serapis

    Battle of Bohomme Richard vs. Serapis
    When commander, John Paul Jones, saw British men he immediately ordered weapons and other supplies along with his ship, Bohomme Richard. The British men reported this to their commander and the battle began. Jones ship fought against the British ship, Serapis. When asked to surrender early he said "I have not yet began to fight." The British were later forced to surrender and the Americans won.

    The Battle of Charleston is the worst defeat of the revolution. The Americans were harmed significantly and had a great loss of equipment and manpower. Because of the loss this gave the British nearly complete control of the southern colonies.
  • Battle of Guilford Courthouse

    This battle took several months to be prepared and for it to take place. This battle took place near the Guilford Courthouse. Although the British won this battle over the Americans, the British suffered significant troop loses during the battle, this weakened them.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    British had to surrender after running low of supplies and were outnumbered by George Washington's army, a combination of French and Americans. This victory ended fighting in the Revolution and assured success to the Americans.
