    Jews expelled from Spain

    In 1492, Spain was freed from Muslim rule. By king Ferdinand ll of Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castille Leading to the Alhambra Decree. This means that they mandated the expulsion of the jews from the country. The churches began rooting out those suspected of practicing Judaism in secret. Often using methods. Jews were given until the end of july to leave the country. Many remained in Spain. Some still practiced their religion in secret. And others turned catholic.
  • Jamestown 1607

    On May 14th a group of people called the Virgina company, that king James granted a charter venture that later formed a settlement. called Jamestown. They made houses. One of the members and a crew would go back to England to gather more supplies.They left behind illnesses, hunger etc. this caused them to abandon but new settlers came with a governor Lord De La Warr. They had beef with Native Americans which caused killing and setting things on fire. they later abandoned it.
  • First Slaves 1619

    The first enslaved Africans to arrive in Virgina is what today known as fort Monroe. They were kidnapped by Portuguese colonial forces. From there they were on a ship which said for Veracruz in the colony of New Spain. It was common, about 150 of the 350 died in the ship during crossing. Were forced to work with no pay. About 12 million Africans, 5 million in Brazil and over 3 million in the Caribbean. Slavery became modified. Abraham freed enslaved people in the south. Slavery was forbidden.
  • Roger Williams Dissant 1636

    Roger was born 1603 in London. He went to Pembroke college in camp bridge, He founded Rhode Island. He was also said to founded a Baptist church. Roger wanted a closer union with god. Rejecting puritanism and embracing separatism. In 1638 Williams was banished from Massachusetts from sedition and heresy. Roger struggled to resolve political conflicts in Rhode Island. His friendship with Indians help maintain peaceful relations between Indians and English settlers. Roger died at 80 years.
  • Salem witch trials

    There were three witches accused as being witches. 2 of the witches denied but one confessed and also said there were other witches. Many others were accused. On June second, 1692, Bridget Bishop was hanged. Later 5 more were hanged in July. Then 8 more in sept. Marther and cottars father argued that witch crafts should be the same for any other crimes. Saying 'It would be better that 10suspected witches may escape than one innocent person be condemned." 1693 May Phillps released all charges.
  • French Indian war 1754-63

    As France was spreading into Ohio river valley. It brought conflict with British colonies. British would repeatedly attack France's Duquesne. Governer Shirly was scared that French settlers in Novia Scotia would side with France so he would expell them to British colonies. In 1756 the British declared war. 1758 british won their first victory. Britian had other victorys and ended up winning, The treaty of Paris ended the war. Britain added taxes so they could get money back.
  • Alexander Hamilton 1757

    Alexander was born on a Caribbean island in 1766-68his parents died. He was a colonial figure. He became famous after publishing a story and got the attention of the George Washington. He fought in the battles of Trenton during the revolutionary war. Washinton offered him a position as a staff. In 1780 he married Elizabeth Schuyler and they had eight kids. Hamilton was Washingtons first secretary. Hamilton died July 11 1804 after a brawl between him and burr, burr had killed him with a bullet.
  • American revolution 1765-83

    The American revolutionary war was between America and Great Britain. America fought for independence from Great Britain. This war lasted from 1765 to 1783. British troops open fired colonist which caused the Boston massacre. Bostian's disguised themselves to hide their identity and threw 342 boxes of tea into the Boston harbor, during the Boston tea party. In the end America won and The Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of independence. The treaty of Paris was signed on sept 3 1783.
  • Declaration of Independance 1776

    In March north Carolina had a convention that became the first to vote for independence. Seven other colonies followed. Thomas Jefferson, and many others wrote a statement. Declaring a breakup with Great Britian. This was later called the declaration of independence. it wasnt signed till august 2nd. On the document it said stuff like disapproval off slave trade etc. Many people signed the document. The last person to sign it was Thomas Mcknen.
  • Industrial Revolution 1766

    The industrial revolution originated in Britain. The British industry was known as "cottage industry." It was based on small workshop. The industrial revolution introduced new inventions that made production in the industry a lot faster. such as auto mobiles inventions that helped weaving a lot faster. Soon it spread throughout the world. This also had cons it was bad for the air and poor people still didn't get money.
  • Battle of saratoga

    The battle of Saratoga was the second battle of the American revolution. One of the enemies was burgoyne. He surrendered his army to gates on October 17.
  • Battle of yorktown

    In September Washington arrived in Williamsburg virgina. Just 13 miles away from Yorktown. Where Cornwallis's men built forts. Cornwallis asked Clinton for help and the general promised him a pleat of 5,000 British soldiers. Hamiltons man attacked their enemies dodging heavy fires. In the attack Hamilton lost nine people whole Cornwallis had lost 27 men. On October 16 Cornwallis surrendered. This was good for Washingtons reputation.
  • The great compromise 1787

    A compromise was proposed by Roger Sherman and Oliver Ellsworth, this meant equal representation. The great compromise combined the Virgina plan and the new jersey plan. There would be a representative for each state. The great compromise distribution of senate delegates is unlikely to change because its protected by the constitution.
  • The constitution

    By 1787 America couldn't pay off debt from the revolutionary war. In 1786 there was a shays rebellion. All 13 states would have to agree which was hard since they all have different opinions. On may 1787, Alexander Hamilton invited the 13 states for a meeting which led to picking washington for president. Summer 1787 they developed the three branches and a system of checks. They agreed that they would count africans as three fifths as a person.
  • Whiskey rebellion 1794

    George washing and Alexander Hamilton taxed whiskey which led to a huge outbreak. There was many incidents such as farmers breaking into houses demanding to stop taxing whiskey etc. Washington had put things in order and everyday calmed down.
