  • WWII Intro

    Began in Europe with Nazi Germany invasion of Poland in 1939. German allied with Italy and Japan and fought against France and Great Britain.
  • US Involvment

    At the end of 1940 The US ended had ended the shipment of metal from japan. simultaneously the US began to send military hardware to China. Because of the the cut off US had with Japan's metal, Japan planed an attack on pearl Harbor. After the bomb US entered the war against Japan and Germany.
  • U.S. Invasions of Africa and Italy (Closing the Ring)

    Roosevelt and Winston Churchill agreed to implement an immediate blockade of supplies to Germany and to begin bombing German cities and munitions. The Army will attack Germany at their weakest points first and slowly advance towards German soil. October 1942 Germany surrender and the allies had their first victory on May 13, 1943.
  • D-Day Invasion

    British and American troops had taken over North Africa and pressed on Italy. Just after midnight on June 6, 1944 three airborne division parachuted behind enemy lines to disrupt enemy communication. Gold and Sword beach was taken by the British. Juno beach was captured by Canadian forces. and the American's task was to take over Utah and Omaha beaches. Paris was liberated in August 1944. When allies entered Berlin Adolf Hitler had already died by his own hands. Germans surrender in May 8, 1945.
  • Island hopping strategy and battles

    In June 1942, Japan hoped to capture Midway Island, an American held base about 1000 miles from Hawaii. Airplanes decided the battle at Midway. After the battle the Japan was forced to fall back and protect the holdings.
  • Strategic bombing on German and Japan

    Strategic bombing was dropping bombs on to heavily populated areas to narrow defined targets. Roosevelt has followed suit and has bombed cities but had never told the public about it. The allies staged one of the largest raids of the war against the German city of Dresden. In the first six hours of the firestorm bombing, more than one hundred thousand Japanese civilians died.
  • Dropping the Atomic Bomb

    American soldier and civilian were weary from four years of war but Japan military was refusing to give up. On August 6, 1945 a plane called the Enola Gay dropped the atomic bomb on the city Hiroshima. Instantly during the drop over 70,000 Japanese civilian vaporized. In the month and years that followed it 100,00 more perished from burns and radiations. Two days later August 9, the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki where 80,000 people perished. on August 14, 1995 the Japanese surrender.
  • End of the war

    Countries that fought with Hitler lost territories and and had to pay reputations to the allies. The war officially ended on September 2nd 1945
