Lend-Lease Act signed
This act enabled the president to send supplies, equipment and weapons to any country whose struggle against the Axis assisted U.S. defense. The US leased over 1 billion dollars of aid to the British. Who had lost 11 destroyers with in a little over a week. -
Pearl Harbor
December 7 1941, A day that will live in infamy. This was the day Japanese planes bomb the US Pacific fleet to try to make them incapable to intervene. The Japanese wanted to get rid of the US Fleet so they could rule the pacific ocean uncontested. -
Bataan Death March
The Imperial Japanese Army made 60-80,000 Filipino and American soilders march from Bataan to Camp O'Donneld. -
Battle of Midway
Midway was a key part to defeating the Japanese in the naval battles of the pacific ocean. The Japanese tried to bomb midway but were unsuccessful only damaging a couple buildings. When the battle was over the Japanese lost 4 aircraft carriers while the US lost only 1 aircraft carrier. -
Landing on Sicily
The US and British armys landed on the banks of Sicily on July 10, 1943. The demoralized Sicilian army put up little resistance to the 150,000 US and British troops that they faced. -

The US invaded the banks of normandy. D-Day is just a refrence it stands for "day of invasion" The US divisded a deception operation to make sure D-Day was sucssesful -
US troops land in the Philippines
This was the beginning of the end for the Japanese. The Japanese tried to split the US troops to make them an easier target. The main part of the battle was fought on the water. The Japanese mobilized the largest fleet for one battle in the whole war consisting of 7 battleships, 11 heavy cruisers, and 19 destroyers. -
Atomic bomb droped
The first atomic bomb was droped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The devestating power of the atomic bomb leveled the city and killed about 120,000 people. The US droped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki killing 80,000 people. Shortly after the Japanese surrendered. -
