    In 1803, Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark out West to explore the Loisiana Purchase. The journay lasted from May 1804 to Septmeber 1806. There goal was to find land and take it before Britian did. Lewis and Clark did one of the most important jounary for America. This jounary gave America new land for farming, new land for settling, and just for people who want to travel out West.

Word spread thoughout the country and some people from the East of America traveled out West in search of gold. Then word speard around the world and people from all differnet counries came to find gold. California then became one of America's richest states. Without the California gold rush, population would not have speard West as quicky as it did in 1849.

    On September 11, 2001 there were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks launched by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda upon the United States in New York City and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. In total, almost 3,000 people died in the attacks, including the 227 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes. It also was the deadliest incident for firefighters in the history of the United States.
