  • Beginning of French Indian War

    The French Indian war, or seven year war, was between the British and French over territory in the United States. This began over the Ohio Valley, as the French invaded it, and caused conflict in the British Colonies.
  • End Of the French Indian War

    After over 7 years of battles between the French and British over territory in America, they finally meet at the Conference of Peace. With some compromise, the British were given Canada from the French and Florida from Spain. This opened up the Mississippi Valley to westward expansion.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a rebellious act carried out by colonists. The colonists boarded a delivery ship filled with tea, and dumped it overboard. This was suppose to show the British their displeasure with the taxes set against such trivial things as tea.
  • Beginning of the Revolutionary War

    The Revolutionary war began due to the increasing audacity and cruelty of the taxes and laws the British installed amongst the colonists. Angered by the British, a group of representatives created the Declaration of Independence, stating that America was it's own country. Upon receiving the declaration, the British declared war.
  • Beginning Of the Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution began as ways were sought to shorten production time and create more than traditional farms usually produce. This brought about many inventions and factories being built, in order to create a mass producing system.
  • Ending of the Revolutionary War

    After a great amount of time, the British finally drew back their forces. The Americans had not only learned how to conquer their army--considered the best in the world at the time--but they had endured. The British surrendered, and the American's were free.
  • Writing Of the Constitution

    The constitution was written by a group of representatives of states to bring about a set of rules for the new country. This includes the formation of the government.
  • Start Of Factories

    The start of factories began when Samuel Slater, a man who escaped England with secret plans for a textile machine. This brought an extreme increase in factories. This in turn brought about an increase in production.
  • Beginning of Lewis and Clark's Expedition

    With the United State's west undiscovered and free to anyone, Lewis and Clark set out to search for a path to take to the other side of America. Stopping by their first fort, they are joined by Sacagawea, a Native American woman. With her help, they start their trek.
  • End Of Lewis and Clark's Expedition

    With the journey complete, and the path to the opposite side of the United States discovered, Lewis and Clark end their journey. This journey is a major step, as it allows not only more travelers and farmers to travel out into the wilderness, but the science community with more things to study.
  • Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri compromise was made in an attempt to keep the peace between the North and South, which were on the verge of war. The compromise says that every state below a line that crossed through half the United State, would be slave states, except for Missouri. This plan, however, didn't work.
  • End Of the Industrial Revolution

    During this time, the industrial production starts to slow, and levels out to a constant rate. This is considered the end of the Industrial Revolution as there's no more exponential growth in the factory building.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny was the idea that American's had a duty and right to travel and expand throughout America. This was a great idea to many, as it urged them to travel and settle the west.
  • Beginning Of Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas refers to the violence started by the Nebraska-Kansas Act. Many of the Southern States get angry with this act, as it goes against the Missouri Compromise. With these tensions, many violent acts follow, hence the name "bleeding" Kansas.
  • End Of Bleeding Kansas

    During the Bleeding Kansas, a man named John Brown creates a sort of army of abolistionist to 'convince' others to make Kansas a free state. A same sort of army is created by the pro slavery population of Kansas. Many of the fights between these two groups bring blood shed, hence Bleeding Kansas.
  • Beginning Of the Civil War

    The Civil War began as soon as Abraham Lincoln was elected president, and the south states started to succeed from the Union. The fight was over the laws on slavery, but soon grew to be about more.
  • Beginning of the Reconstruction

    With the Civil War at an end, the United States needs to become "united" once again. With plans of readmitting the southern states, and rewriting laws on blacks, there's much to discuss. While the south are slightly unsure, they are ready to compromise.
  • End Of the Civil War

    After years of fighting, the war is finally finished when Ulysses S Grant and Lee sign a treaty in Appomattox Court. With this, the southern states lost, and were admitted back into the union as free states. While this didn't work out everything, it did bring the states together and start the end of slavery.
  • Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

    The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was carried out by John Booth, who snuck into a theater and shot Lincoln in his back. This was after the civil war, and therefore didn't do anything toward that effort, but did create a large amount of shock and anger from Lincoln's followers.
  • End Of Reconstruction

    The Reconstruction was the idea of reuniting the states again. This was completed, but had many compromises to make. In the reconstruction the black codes, 14th and 15th amendments, and the Civil Rights Act are installed. The black codes are made by southerners to keep the blacks from voting, despite the 14th and 15th amendments stating that they could. The Civil Rights Acts also help with the treatment of blacks. Confederates were also denied spots on congress.
