    The Discovery of America by Columbus

    Columbus led his three ships out of the Spanish port of Palos on August 3, 1492. And he landed in the Bahamas and called it The New World.

    It is a historic site in east Virginia and it has ruins from the first permanent English settlement in North America. It was founded by Sir Walter Raleigh.
  • The French and Indian War began

    This war was between two colonies, British America and New France. The French in Canada tried moving into Ohio area.

    The war ended with England getting Canada from the French and Florida from Spain.

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest against English taxes.

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord was the first battale of the American Revolutionary War.

    It was the first conflict on foreign land. We got California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. Mexico lost 1/3 of its land. It was manifest destiny to expand the U.S. to the pasific.

    It was owned by Rockefeller, he controlled 90 to 95 percent of all the oil production in the U.S.

    Thomas Edison was the inventor of the light bulb. And it changed how people lived and worked because now they could work after dark.

    It was a railroad strike. It severely disrupted the economy. It led to labor law changes. The steel company locked out their workers and it lead to some workers dying.

    The U.S. got Hawaii, Guam, Porto Rico, and the Philippines in this war. It was a war between Spain and the U.S. in Cuba.

    He started national parks like Mount Rushmore. He was a very popular president.
