    First Permenant Settlement Jamestown
    Jamestown was the first permenant settlement in the Americas after multiple failed attempts at colonizing. Jamestown would serve as the capital of the Colony of VIrgina for 83 years.
  • The First Slaves in America

    The First Slaves in America
    12 years after the formation of the first colony the first slave ship landed in the New World. Slaves would become a important point later on in the history of the United States
  • The First Thanksgiving

    The First Thanksgiving
    Pilgrims left England to go to the Netherlands to worship more freely and when that didn't pan out they funded a voyage to the the New World and landed at Plymouth Massachusetts. With little food many of the colonists starved and without help from the Native Americans they would have died out. To symbolize their gratitude the Native Americans and the Pilgrims had a 3 day feast know as Thanksgiving,

    The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal between the United States and France, in which the U.S. acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million dollars. Napoleon sold the land to Thomas Jefferson so that he could fund his war expeditions

    Dubbed the first modern war due to the use of advanced technology and military tactics. Fought between the Northern states and the southern states. It would become the bloodiest war to date

    This was the document that formally declared the freedom of all slaves in America. Stated by Lincoln himself the third year of the Civil War

    Reunified the Northern and Southern states back into a single nation. This amendment made slavery unconstituional. Slavery was never legal in the United States again.
