    In 1502 Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain authorizes slaves in the Americas a century prior to British colonies being establish.

    20 Africans were sold by Dutch traders in 1619. There is a possibility that the colonist were under the impression that the Africans were indentured servants. So they thought they would only be in that position for a short period of time.

    Roger Williams spoke out against policy of the church in the Massachusetts Bay colony. He believed in seperation of church and state and that the lands being taken from the Natives were wrong. This eventually led to his fleeing the colony and eventually establishing the colony of Rhode Island.

    With the establishment of the Carolinas also came the immigration of slave owners from Barbados. These slave owners viewed slavery very different than the American colonies as slavery existed in the Carribean prior to the American colonies and was much more harsher. They became landowners and brought with them these ideas regarding the treatment of slaves.

    The Enlightenment and the Great Awakening were periods of great change around the world. It started in France and made its way to the US. It had many people straying from their religion and families.

    The Stono Rebellion
    20 slaves from Stono River in southern Carolina started a slave uprising. They marched south armed and gaining more slaves as well as taking lives of any Whites they came upon. The rebellion was later stopped but the effects of this was felt on all slaves afterwards due to more strict laws regarding slaves.

    The Intolerable Acts

    A series of taxes were imposed on the colonies from Britain. Through out the years of 1764 to 1773 the British Empire imposed a Sugar Act, a Currency Act, a Quartering Act, a Stamp Act and a Tea Act. All acts that would tax goods to benefit Britiain.

    50 men dumped the tea into the harbor wearing Mohawk Indian outfits. This was done because the colonists were upset about the British Empire imposing taxes on them. This act cause many other resistence acts amongst the colonies towards other taxes from Britain.

This bank would be chartered by the Federal government.The basis for this bank was for the government to have a place to deposit their funds and to offer small business loans. Hamilton believed it was a step to a better US economy

At the Battle of Jacinto the Mexicans lost and their general was kidnapped and forced to sign a new treaty granting Texas it's freedom.
