  • Battle of Lexington and concord

    This started the American Revolutionary war. The battle started because the British commander overheard of patriots keeping supplies of powder and weapons.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The British troops surrendered. It was the turning point of the Revolutionary war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    This was the last battle of the Revolutionary war. The British General Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington
  • Northwest Ordinance

    This created a way to add new states to the union and it also issued bill of rights to these territories. The Northwest Ordinance also established a government for these new states.
  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    This act protected the United States by making it harder for immigrants to be able to come into America or to even have rights
  • Virginia and Kentucky Resolution

    It stated that the states had the right to nullify federal laws as unconstitutional.
  • Marbury vs. Madison

    This created the judicial review court. It gave the federal courts the power to determine legislative and executive branches unconstitutional.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    This was a deal between the U.S and France. The U.S wanted square miles of land for 15 million dollars.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    President James Monroe created this. It helped the United States policy with the new political order.
  • Nullification Crisis

    South Carolina nullified the tariff act as unconstitutional.
  • Texas Annexation

    This admitted Texas to the South as the 28th state. This allowed Texas to become independent from Mexico.
  • Oregon Treaty

    This is a treaty between the United States and the United Kingdom. The treaty to set the boundaries U.S and Canada. This boundary is at the 49th parallel.
  • Mexican Cession

    The Mexican Cession was surrendered to the United States in hopes to end the Mexican war.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    This was created by president Abraham. It allowed all slaves to be declared free including in the rebellious states.
  • Gettysburg Address

    A speech from Abraham to the soldier's cemetery. This was for those who died at the battle of Gettysburg.
