  • President Calvin Coolidge

    The nation's 30th president, Calvin Coolidge was the vice president of President Harding. Calvin Coolidge wanted American society to go "back to normal" after the Great war and social unrest.
  • The Scopes Trial

    The Scopes Trial was the prosecution of a teacher in Tennesse where he decided to teach the theory of evolution in a public school breaking a recent law that had been passed.
  • U.S. stock market crashes

    As the majority driving factor to cause the Great Depression, the market crash of 1929 dropped the growing economy by 25% and left many struggling for money. This was the steepest decline in the stock market's history.
  • The Dust Bowl Drought

    The Dust Bowl was a period of severe dust storms that greatly damaged the ecology and agriculture of the American prairies during the 1930s. This affected crop yields and the ability for farmers to profit during the harvest. Many couldn't even yield enough to feed their families.
  • Franklin Roosevelt

    Franklin Roosevelt became America's 32nd president. Roosevelt helped the American people regain faith in themselves. He brought hope as he promised prompt, vigorous action, and asserted in his Inaugural Address, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
  • The Invention of Radar

    The use and invention of radar detectors and sensors became publicized in 1935. This allowed ships like submarines to know where enemy ships are located. Radar uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of objects.
  • The Second World War begins

    World War II begins when Britan and France declare war on the racist reigned Germany. Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, has became allies with Italy and Japan. They would later fall to the hands of the Allies.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese Air Force bombed our naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This event led to the entrance of the United States into World War II and finally ended in the U.S. dropping two atomic bombs on japan.
