Bay of Pigs Invasion
1,400 Cuban Exiles landed in Bay of Pigs, Cuba. They were trying to over throw Fidel Castro. These exiles were were secretly trained and armed in Guatemala. They were trained by the United States CIA. -
The Berlin Wall Is Started
This is after WW2 has ended and Germany was divided. On the East side of the wall you had Russia(Soviet Union). Then on the west side you had France, Britain, and of the United States. But on the east side is the capital of Germany(Berlin). This was also split in half. Also because the Soviet Union wanted more power they started building the wall. -
The Cuban Missile Crisis
In 1959, Fidel Castro took power in Cuba. Two years later in Cuba they started building nuclear weapons bases. So President Kennedy and Castro started talking and they came up with an agreement that if President Kennedy did not invade Cuba and remove the blockade, he would then remove the missiles. -
President Kennedy gets Assassinated
President Kennedy is going on a 10 mile parade with his wife and the Governer of Texas. They were in Dallas. Then suddenly when they were in front of Texas School Book Depository Building at 12:30 p.m., Lee Harvey Oswald shot and injured President Kennedy and the Governer of Texas. -
The Hippies Have Arrived
In the early to mid 60's these people called hippies started coming out and talking about how the world should be at peace. They were also hooked to other things such as sex, drugs, long hair, and of course music. These are the people that held Woodstock. -
The Vietnam War
The actual war started in 1945 but the United States joined the Vietnam War in 1965. We were only in the war for about 8 years. We were in the war until March 1973. -
The Tet Offensive
Tet is a holiday in the korean countries. They called a treaty for that day. But the north did not care the y just started attacking city after city in the south. They attacked 100 major cities in the south. The north managed to get control of our U.S. Embassy. But we got control of it untilwe got some control back 8 hours later. It took two weeks to regain full control. -
The Very First Earth Day
Wtih people driving cars with big engines and with all of the air pollution Rachel Carson wrote a book about it. It sold in more than 20 countries and she sold 500,000 copies. With this book she raised public awareness and the concern for living organisms. -
The EPA is started
The EPA is a government group that was started to help keep nature and the enviroment clean. Helping them would ensure that the world would be safe and last a long time. It would be even better if we could do something about the pollution in the air. -

The Vietnam War started in March 1945 until April 30th, 1975. -

This was a response to the energy crisis in 1973. It said that we need to conserve energy or find an alternate source. -
Camp David Accords
U.S. President Jimmy Carter helped to solve the conflict between the Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat. This agreement was signed in Washington D>C. -

Reagan Revolution
Reagan helped spark a conservative revolution in American politics. He worked to shrink government, promote free enterprise, and reduce spending on social programs. He also called for fewer regulations related to business and the environment. -
Nuclear freeze movement
Rising tensions with the Soviet Union increased fears of nuclear war. The nuclear freeze movement called for an end to the spread of nuclear weapons. -
A conservative Court
The Supreme Court moved to the right under Reagan. This shift was evident in such cases as New Jersey v. T.L.O., which limited privacy rights for students. -
Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty
President Regan or President G. H. W. Bush went to the Soviet Union and signed the treaty saying that they could only keep the nuclear weapons in Europe reduced to a minimum. -
George H. W. Bush
In 1988, Bush appealed to Reagan Republicans with his campaign pledges to expand the economy, not raise taxes, and create a “kinder, gentler” America. After a costly bailout to deal with the savings and loans crisis, he broke his no-taxes pledge in an effort to balance the federal budget. -
Bill Clinton
As a moderate New Democrat, Clinton breathed new life into the Democratic coalition. One of his main legacies is welfare reform. Clinton failed to enact universal health care, however. In his second term, Clinton was impeached but not removed from office. -
Fighting terrorists
The al Qaeda terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, prompted the United States to declare a war on terror in Afghanistan and Iraq. We hve been fighting them for about 10 or more years. We are just now starting to pull out our soldiers. -
Barack Obama
Faced with a slow-growing economy and high unemployment, Obama pushed an economic stimulus package through Congress. However, his jobs bill faced tough Republican opposition, as did his comprehensive health-care reform law.
