3/5 Compromise
The 3/5 compromise is a compromise that settled the vote of African Americans in the population. Northerners did not believe slaves should be counted in states population but the south did. The reason these states wanted more population in representation is because the vote of slavery could change. They decided to make 3 out of every 5 slaves a person. Constitution was Ratified
The constitution was now adopted and replaced the Articles of Confederation. Nine out of the thirteen states ratified making it the new official document of the United States. Whiskey Rebellion
Congress passed a tariff and put a tax on whiskey. It upset Many people of the U.S. but especially the farmers of western Pennsylvania. They started rioting so Washington brought in 13,000 troops to break it up, but the time they got there most rebellions already stopped. Bill of Rights were Added to the Constitution
The Bill of Rights are the First ten amendments in the U.S. constitution. They are considered to be the basic rights of all humans in the United States. Thomas Jefferson Elected for President
Thomas Jefferson won the 1800 election in a very close vote. It caused the vote to be brought to the house of representatives. This vote also tied so senates eventually decided Jefferson to be the winner. Louisiana Purchase
The United States under President Jefferson purchased a giant portion of our country. 828,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi was purchased for 15 million dollars. The embargo act forbid american ships from leaving american water. They did this to retaliate against british and France seizing American ships and men. Star Spangled Banner

Missouri Compromise

Gibbons vs. Ogden
This was a case about to people in the same business industry. Both Gibbons and Ogden were owners of a company that ferried people on the water. Ogden owned a monopoly and went to congress to try to keep Gibbons from running his ship on water. Indian Removal Act
