Proclamation
This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains.The British government feared conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclamation because they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning th French and Indian War. -

Quartering Act
This act required colonist to do many things. One is that they had to house British soldiers. They also had to provide them with supplies and food. Colonist were angry that they had to let the soldiers live in their house. -
Stamp Act
This put a tax on all commercial documents so that they could have an official stamp on it. The stamp showed that they paid a tax. Colonist were angry that this applied to them and not just the merchants. -
Townshend Act
Parliament passed this act to raise revenue. This placed a tax on any glass, lead, tea, and any other imported goods. Colonist were very angry at Parliament. -
Tea Act and Boston Tea Party
The Tea Act took control over all the tea in the colonies. Also it kept a tax on all the tea. As a way of protest some colonist dressed as indians and destroyed hundreds of crates of tea in Boston harbor. -
Intolerable Act
Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts in 1774. It closed the port of Boston until colonist paid for the destroyed tea. Also they had to allow Britian to house troops wherever neccessary. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
British troops marched to Concord and Lexington to destroy colonist's supplies. They also tried to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock. At Lexington eight militiamen were killed and the colonist lost the battle, at Concord militiamen and minutemen attacked the British and made them retreat. -
Olive Branch Patition
In July 1775Congress drafted the Olive Branch Petition. Then it was sent to the king as a last attempt at peace. The king rejected the petition and made new punishments for the colonies. He then used the British's navy to block American ships from leaving. -
Declaration of Independance
This declaration proclaimed the independence for the colonies. It also claimed that people have rights that the government cannot take away. The people can change the government if it does not protect the people's rights.
