XYZ Affair
As an attempt to get Jay's Treaty passed, John Adams sent three agents, X, Y, and Z, to speak to the French Prime Minister. French agents tried to get the US agents to pay them $250,000 to be able to speak to the Prime MInister. This almost lead to what is known as the Quasi War, whiich was quelled by John Adams. -

With tensions growing between the United States and France and the Quasi War closing in, The Convention of 1800 was held. It yielded the Treaty of Mortefontaine, which ended all tensions between France and the US. -

THe War of 1812 was a war with Britain caused for several reasons, British impressment of American naval vessels being a big one. Britain was also arming Native Americans encouraging them to revolt. Secretly, America wished to annex Florida and southern Canada. -

This treaty ended the War of 1812. The war of 1812. The Battle of New Orleans was fought because they were not aware that the war was over. This battle made future president Andrew Jackson a war hero. The War of 1812 ending caused AMerica to return to isolationism, which ironically caused a boom in industry. It is also considered to be the even responsible for ending the Fedaralist party. -

Recoloniation of the United States was attempted by Britain, Spain and even Russia The Monroe Doctrine warned Europe that if anyone tried to colonize in the United States, it would be seen as an act of war and treated as such.
