    On September 2nd, 1945 Ho Chi Minh declared indpendece for the country of Vietnam, he later made multiple attempts to get the US on his side.

    LT COL Peter Dewey was the first blood of this conflict with the Vietnamese. He would be the first of many to lay down their life in this war.

    Truman feared that Vietnam would also fall to communism, so he sent 35 military advisors to Vietnam, as part of a multi-million dollar aid package. This would lead to more advisors being sent.

    Eisenhower was a subscriber to Domio Theory, he was also worried that if Vietnam fell to communism then the rest of the region would too. So in order to stop it, he sent aid to the Diem regime nearly 2 billion dollars in aid and supply them with weapons and increase the number of advisors to 1,000. We keep on supporting the War effort before it ever started.

    After running many covert op missions, the North Vietnamese boats attacked the USS Maddox destroyer on August 2nd. But then on August 4 the USS Maddox falsely reported an attack and fire repeatedly at nothing. The US would bomb North Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which the North Vietnamese saw as an act of war.
