Battle of New York
General William Howe and Admiral Richard Howe joined forces on Staten Island and sailed into New York harbor in 1776. They had the largest amount of soldiers with 32,000 solders. Out numbered, Washington gathered 23,000 men to New York's defense. Majority of his troops were untrained recruits with poor equipment. The battle ended in late August with heavy losses from the american retreat. -
