U.S. Congress reintroduces the draft
The U.S. Congress approves the first peacetime conscription draft in anticipation of possible American involvement in WWII. -
Franklin D. Roosevelt is elected to his third term
FDR runs for his third term and when he gets re-elected this bacame an issue. He won an easy enough election with the support of labor unions. -
Lend-Lease Act is approved
The U.S. was now able to supply United Kingdom, Soviet Union, China, and France (among any other allied forces0 with war materials during the war. This was basically a close end to U.S. neutrality. -
RKO Pictures releases Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane was a well organized American drama, that racked in lots of money both in and out of the theaters. The drama was so vewied because of its unique story and theme. -
Mount Rushmore is completed
A sculpture of four presidents in the side of Mount Rushmore, also called Mount Rushmore National Memorial, in South Dakota. These presedents include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. -
Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor
This was a planed suprise military strike by the Japanese on America's military base in Pearl Harbor. We allowed America to then be pulled into eorld war by declaring war on Germany and Italy's ally, and our new enemy; Japan. Racial tensions to people or Japanese origin in or out of our country spiked. We exposed a cruel and over fearing side of ourselves and put the Japanese under close lock and key. -
9066 is signed
This executive order was signed due to Pearl Harbor. We relocated every Japanese American to camps with close servalance in panic from the attack. These camps were harsh and unfair sort of ironic in the fact that we were fighting for the Jewish freedom from Concentration camps. -

Lasted until the 25th of August, this was the code name for the attack mon Normandy, where they sent line after line of soldieres to get plowed down until the German defences were broken. -

This law offers many benefits for the veterans like; low cost morgages, low-intrest loans on farms or buisnesses. -
Americans land at Iwo Jima
Lasted untill March 26, a major battle where the U.S. forces faught and captured Iwo Jima an island from Japan's own empire. This was one of the bloodiest and most violent battles of WWII, because the Japanese would not surrender, only fight to the death. -
Harry S. Truman becomes President
FDR is killed in the middle of his fourth elected term as president so, Truman, his vice president, is sent to succeed Roosevelt. -
Germany Surrenders
During the Battle of Berlin Hitler commits suicide. His succeser sends the baffled Nazi German army to give America its formal surrender. -
Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The nuclear weapons formed in the Manhattan Project are used to bomb two Japanese cities. The Japanese refusal to back down drew America to extremes. The Japanese finally surrendered after their citizens were being killed. -

A place where representitives of many countries can meet in peace and negotiate. -
National Basketball Association of America is founded
A mens proffesinal basketball league in North America, it has about 30 franchised member clubs. -
Jackie Robinson's debut
Became the first Major League Baseball player. He broke Base-Ball records and played for Broolyn, and became a popular icon. -

American program to help Europe where we gave the Europeans support to restore their economy after WWII desaster. -
President Truman is re-elected
He won a fairly easy election, though people were suprised and thought another canadate, Dewy, would win. -
NATO is formed
A North Atlantic treaty organization, multi country military alliance.
