Gabriel's Rebellion
Slave Gabriel plotted a plan to end slavery. The plan included attacking Richmond with 1,000 fellow slaves. The plan was disclosed and the rebellion was suppressed. This event struck fear into the hearts of the white plantation owners, and more restrictions were placed upon slaves. -

Missouri Crisis (Compromise)
As the new state of Missouri desired admittance into America, there was much debate whether or not it would be counted as a slave state. In the compromise, the Mason-Dixon line was established and Missouri was admitted as a slave state simultaneously with Maine as a free state. This crisis acknowledged that there was major division between the democrats and republicans. -

In 1821, the first modern textile mill was built by Mr. Lowell. He created the mill town of Lowell Massachusetts, on the Merrimack River. -
