Louisiana Purchase
In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson agreed to the Louisiana Purchase. Adding 530 million acres of land to the United States. The following year, Jefferson assigned Meriwether Lewis (who asked William Clark for help) to head west and explore the new purchased land.
